Which accountability app actually sees what you do on your iPhone?
A side-by-side look at how three of the most popular accountability apps protect you on iOS — where Apple's rules make real coverage hard.
TL;DR: On iPhone, Ever Accountable is the only one of these three that sees the actual content inside other apps — not just the website address or the video title.
This comparison is specific to iPhone & iPad. On Windows, Mac, and Android the other services capture more — Covenant Eyes takes device-wide screenshots across all apps, and Accountable2You logs activity across all apps (titles/usage, never the on-screen image). The ❌ marks below describe iPhone & iPad only.
Comparison current as of June 6, 2026. Features change over time — check each provider's site for their latest.

Bottom line
Bottom line: On iPhone, Ever Accountable is the only one of these three that sees the actual content inside other apps — not just the website address or the video title — and it does it with on-device AI, an independent ISO 27001 + 27701 certification neither competitor holds, and without taking over your VPN.

Our Chief Product Officer ran all three apps through the same tests on an iPhone — Safari, Chrome, Facebook, TikTok, and more. Watch what each one actually reported.

Footnotes
1 · Accountable2You / YouTube: reports videos watched in the YouTube app (feed/thumbnail-scrolling detail not documented).
2 · Accountable2You browser & app activity: its iOS VPN logs browser activity (page titles and web addresses) across major browsers, but never the on-screen content of the page (no screenshots or image AI).
3 · Covenant Eyes blocking: blocks at the domain/website level, not specific content inside an app. That works for known porn sites, but not for mixed-content sites that host both clean and explicit material.
4 · ISO certification: Ever Accountable is ISO 27001 + ISO 27701 certified, audited annually by independent third-party auditor A-LIGN. See our certifications
5 · Covenant Eyes accountability: on iOS, Covenant Eyes captures on-screen content only in Safari; it reports the web addresses visited in other apps and browsers, but not the content inside them.
6 · Setup speed: from Ever Accountable’s hands-on study of 7 first-time users setting up each app (Dec 2025 – Jan 2026), across a mix of iPhone and Android devices — so it’s broadly, though not exclusively, iOS-relevant. EA averaged ~1.9× faster and was faster for every participant. Accountable2You was not included. See the full study and raw data
7 · Refund if you find a loophole: if you find a loophole that makes you feel unprotected, Ever Accountable refunds you back to when you found it, up to 90 days — we take your word for it. Covenant Eyes offers a 30-day satisfaction money-back guarantee but no loophole/effectiveness promise; Accountable2You offers no loophole guarantee either.
Why "on iPhone & iPad" matters: Apple tightly limits what apps can see. On Windows, Mac, and Android the other services capture more — Covenant Eyes takes device-wide screenshots across all apps, and Accountable2You logs activity across all apps (titles/usage, never the on-screen image). The ❌ marks above describe iPhone & iPad only.
A note on Apple's parental controls: some apps suggest turning on Apple's built-in Screen Time/parental controls to close a few remaining gaps. Those require setting a PIN you hand to someone else and locking the phone down so hard it starts to feel like a dumb phone. Because that isn't part of any of these services' normal setup — and because the experience is so clunky — we've left it out of this comparison.
